From the Beaufort County Republican Party
North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) will keynote the Reagan Republican Rally on Sept. 17 at the Washington Yacht and Country Club on River Road. First elected to the General Assembly in 2002, Moore is currently serving his third term as the speaker of the N.C. House.
Moore has been tangling with Gov. Roy Cooper trying to get the state open for business and to get school classrooms open again.
In July, Moore said, “Returning students to the classroom should be our top priority, but instead North Carolinians are experiencing the devastating impacts of Gov. Cooper’s one-size-fits-all economic closures and policies that hinder broad recovery without protecting the vulnerable. I urge the Governor to present a workable, comprehensive plan — for our schools, our economy, and vulnerable senior citizens — that recognizes the failures of his current scattershot approach and provides real opportunities for our state to move forward.”
Candidates, a hometown hero and talented locals will round out the evening program. Republican candidates are requested to register their attendance online in order to arrange appropriate recognition and space.
Republicans on local and state levels usually celebrate “Reagan Day” in February or March. COVID-19 precautions thwarted local plans in March and the annual fund raiser for the Beaufort County Republicans was rescheduled to Sept. 17.
All guests are requested to wear a mask, and the servers will be wearing masks as well. WYCC has rearranged seating to meet social distancing guidelines.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with registration. 2020 candidates will meet and greet guests during the social hour. The dinner will begin at 7 p.m. A cash bar will be available all evening. Individual tickets are $50 and table sponsorships range from $500 to $700.
Advance tickets are required. Tickets are on sale online at rdd2020.rsvpify.com and at the County Republican Headquarters at 140 W. Second Street, Washington, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
