Mrs. Charlsie “Midge” Matthews Moore, 84, of 1120 Cowell Farm Road, Washington and formerly of Chocowinity, died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2007 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens with Pastor Phillip Jethro officiating.
The family will receive friends from Noon to the funeral hour at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home of her daughter, Linda Lane, 146 Wood Duck Drive, Washington and at the home of her son, Joe Price, 269 Mansfield Road, Washington.
Mrs. Moore was born July 4, 1923 in Marion County, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late W.J. Matthews and Daisy Kennedy Matthews. On June 16, 1962, she married James “Jimmy” Raymond Moore, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2006. She worked as a cosmetologist in Chattanooga and South Pittsburg, Tenn. Her remaining years in Washington and Chocowinity she was owner and operator of Town &Country Beauty Shop and Mi- Lady’s for a total of 55 years of service. She was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Price Lane and her husband, Sonny of Washington and Lisa Moore Carroll of Oregon; two sons, Jerry Price and his wife, Pat of Highland Springs, Va. and Joe Price and his wife, Deborah of Washington; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Matthews of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice M. Walker, Lillian Matthews and Ruth M. McCullough, and five brothers, Herman Matthews, Herschel Matthews, James W. Matthews, William Calvin Matthews, and Morris Matthews.
