As of Sunday night, 110 people in Tyrrell County had tested positive for COVID-19 since the coronavirus made its appearance last March, the Martin-Tyrrell-Washington District Health Department reported.

A total of 709 persons have been tested in Tyrrell, 110 were positive, 107 have recovered, and there have been two deaths from the virus, leaving one active case in Tyrrell at this time.

In Martin County 4,735 have been tested, and of the 388 who were positive 349 persons have recovered, and there have been seven deaths.

Washington County reports 2,748 tested, 172 recoveries out of 193 positive cases, with six deaths.

The percentage of the population tested as of last week was 233% in North Carolina, 21.1% in Martin County, 17.7% in Tyrrell County, and 23.7% in Washington County.

The Tar Heel State reports 2,890 deaths and 145,884 recoveries out of 176,901 positive cases.

Nationwide figures are 193,250 deaths and 3,725,970 recoveries out of 6,460,250 positives cases.

Globally there are reported to be 887i,538 deaths and 19.4 million recoveries out of 27.3 million cases.

Last Thursday the Hyde County Health Department reported three deaths as a result of COVID-19, the first fatalities in that county.

The NC Department of Health and Human Resources reported Friday that three residents of Cross Creek Health Center in Swan Quarter have died of the virus. The department stated that 21 residents have tested positive there, along with 11 staff members.
