Eastern Elementary pre-k, kindergarten to remain on remote learning

 

Just two days before Eastern Elementary School was slated to welcome children back to the classroom Monday, Beaufort County Schools announced a change of plans this past weekend.

According to BCS Superintendent Matthew Cheeseman, students at EES will remain on remote learning status through Oct. 23, with in-person instruction resuming Oct. 26. This does not include adaptive students who had previously been attending school. Cheeseman said that a teacher at the school had tested positive for COVID-19, and as a result, multiple teachers and employees will need to self-quarantine.

Serving pre-k through first grade students, Eastern was scheduled to welcome back all students for in-person learning four days a week starting Monday. So too were other public schools in the county serving pre-k through fifth grade. Sixth through 12th grade students are scheduled to return to the classroom starting Thursday, with two days of in-person learning each week and three days of remote instruction.
