Purpose of God Annex celebrates the retirement of the mortgage debt on its Annex building at 1015 East 6th St. in Washington. This campaign has been supported for two years by a number of Washington citizen “sustainers”, aimed at paying off the final $45,000 owed. In the final months of 2020, however, several stepped up contributing sums of $500, $1,000 and even $5,000 to help the Purpose of God Annex secure its missionwork headquarters.
Bishop and Mother Jones wish to first thank God for fulfilling His promise to have this debt met before the New Year, and then to express their true gratitude for everyone in our community who contributed, great and small, during these challenging times: Church of the Good Shepherd, Elizabeth and William Page Jr., Judith Murphey, Alan Weaver, Dr. Marshall Taylor, William and Tomp Litchfield Jr., St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church, Purpose of God Evangelistic Centre, David and Mary Bond, Jamey Ross, Alan and Susun Stancil, Ed Bolen, Elizabeth Cook, James Martin III, Andrew and Sarah Castles, Graham and Rebecca Martin, Pat Holscher, Ernie and Gloria Coleman, Tom and Kathy Robinson, Harry W. Meredith Jr., Jane Page, Elizabeth and John Wilder, Gene and Mark Eakes, Ginger Gardiner, Springdale Village and Gibbs Electric.
With this debt now retired, the Purpose of God Annex will continue its Miracle Meals program to feed those in need during the COVID-19 crises and its Share Shop, where clothing, appliances and household items are distributed for free. The ministry will also strengthen its focus on the Project New Hope job training program and its Youth Program for children aged 6-15, once COVID ends. “We are so glad the vaccine for COVID is being distributed and look forward to later this year, when we can again work with Project New Hope participants and, of course, the children in our community, who have had so much to deal with during this pandemic,” said Bishop Jones. “We are so blessed to serve in Washington and Beaufort County, and have the support of so many here, who encourage us,” said Mother Jones.
