Chocowinity’s volunteer Emergency Medical Service is taking a cue from their firefighting cousins by hosting a COVID-compliant fundraiser that offers a delivery from the Easter bunny to any Beaufort County household.
The bunny won’t actually be there, but evidence of his visit – including candy-filled Easter eggs on the lawn, Easter baskets on the porch, and a note from the Easter Bunny – will be delivered between 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3 to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 4. EMS member and event organizer Julie Parker said all EMS volunteers involved will be gloved and masked up when they prepare and deliver those requests in contact-free bags.
“We’re giving you an amazing Easter Sunday while you help support our EMS service. Your little ones will be excited to wake up on Sunday morning and find a letter and eggs from the Easter bunny himself. You can also surprise your friends and family even if they don’t have kids. It’s fun to leave surprises for those you love,” Parker said, adding that all funds raised will be used to update or purchase new ambulance equipment.
There are six different delivery options, for which a form needs to be received no later than Friday, March 26. Prices range from $10 to $100 and include 20 to 100 eggs per order. A variety of pre-made Easter baskets will also be available for sale on the Saturday before Easter, at the Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department’s springtime barbecue plate fundraiser. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for that event and members of the EMS division will be supervising Easter-related children’s games.
Forms and full details for delivery options are available on the Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page and at the EMS/Fire Department building, located at 512 NC Route 33 in Chocowinity. Visitors should ask for the fire chief, captain, or supervisor on duty. Chocowinity EMS may be contacted by calling 252-948-2446.
