The six COVID-19-related deaths Beaufort County reported Wednesday were county residents who died in Pitt County between January and March, Health Director Jim Madson said. The delivery of those six death certificates from Pitt County to Beaufort County was delayed, which is why they were all officially logged on the same day.
Beaufort County’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 91. The county also recorded eight new positive cases of COVID-19, raising its total case count to 4,369. Health officials know of 72 active cases among county residents, and two of those individuals are hospitalized.
With six new recoveries reported Wednesday, 4,206 Beaufort County residents have recovered from COVID-19.
North Carolina reported 2,098 new cases, 40 COVID-19-related deaths and 12,023 recoveries Wednesday.
