Shelby S. Cahoon

Shelby Spring Cahoon, 74, of 1380 Quarter Road, Swan Quarter, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2011.
Born in Shinnston, W.Va., Dec. 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lee T. and Monica Goodwin Spring. She was a member of Swan Quarter Christian Church.
Mrs. Shelby loved to work in her flowers and enjoyed watching the birds from her kitchen window. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was a longtime artist.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Swan Quarter Christian Church. Phil Emmert will officiate. Interment will follow at Soule Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Eddie W. Cahoon of Swan Quarter; four daughters, Donna Wray and husband Billy of Brunswick, Ga., Vicki Sadler and husband Scott of Swan Quarter, Roxie D. Douglas and husband John of Swan Quarter and Kimberly C. Maskell and husband Mark of Mebane, N.C.; six grandchildren, Christy Sadler, Nick Sadler, George Douglas, Jocelyn Cahoon, Karen Sadler and Victoria Grace Maskell; five step-grandchildren, William Wray, Joey Wray, Paige Moore, Chad Wray and Tyler Wray; nine great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother Joseph C. Spring and wife Virginia of New Bern and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond L. Cahoon; a brother Donald R. Spring; four sisters Theda Brannon, Norma Bailey, Molly Dalton and Patty Hodges.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
