Wallace “Gator” Edwin Lockyer, Jr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at his home in Engelhard.
Wallace was born in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, on December 26, 1937, to the late Wallace Edwin and Mary (Perkins) Lockyer, Sr. He was married to the former Margaret Virginia Walter, who preceded him in death.
Wallace attended the Virginia Military Institute and then served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1959. He was a man who wore many hats and had many talents. In his younger years, he liked to hunt and fish, scuba dive and travel. He played music with several bands including High Tyde that played at the old Sound Side and the neighborhood band, Middle Creekers. He enjoyed his winter house in Florida. Wallace was a member of Atlantic Lodge #294 AF&AM of Swan Quarter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Engelhard Christian Church, with Andy Edge officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Wallace is survived by his son, William Muntz and wife Patricia; granddaughter, Alesci Hawkins and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Maddy and Mason Hawkins; Step-grandchildren, Shani Seacrist-Deeks and husband Josh, Timothy Hubley and fiancé Erica, and Mitch Hubley; eleven step-great grandchildren and two step-great great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Dangelo, Beverly Walter, and brother-in-law Charles Walter and wife Lorretta.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Shelia Lockyer; step-great grandson, Tristan Seacrist; and brothers-in-law, Barney Walter and Pat Dangelo.
