Beaufort County has recorded its 95th COVID-19 related death, according to North Carolina Health and Human Services data.

Beaufort County had recorded 4,675 cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday afternoon, putting the county’s death rate at approximately 2%. Meanwhile, approximately 41% of county residents had been at least partially vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday. Just over half of the county’s adult population had been at least partially vaccinated.

As of Monday, six Beaufort County residents were hospitalized with COVID-19. Two of them were on ventilators.

According to a weekly report the county published last Friday, eastern N.C. counties with total confirmed cases at that time included: Beaufort (4,653), Bertie (1,777),  Bladen (3,299), Brunswick (9,202), Camden (672), Carteret (5,142), Chowan (1,468), Columbus (6,363), Craven (9,379), Currituck (1,568), Dare (2,126), Duplin (6,310), Edgecombe (5,615), Gates (743), Greene (2,354), Halifax (5,622), Hertford (2,106),  Hyde (668), Jones (863), Lenoir (6,116), Martin (2,259), New Hanover (19,306), Northampton (1,886), Onslow (17,302), Pamlico (1,120), Pasquotank (3,395), Pender  (5,488), Perquimans (1,021), Pitt (19,999) Sampson (7,970), Tyrrell (320) Washington (1,089), Wayne (11,280) and Wilson (9,722). Mecklenburg (112,738), Wake (88,197), Guilford (47,915) counties have the most cases.

STATEWIDE

As of Tuesday, North Carolina had recorded 998,701 cases of COVID-19 and just over 13,000 COVID-related deaths.

NCDHHS data shows that approximately 42% of the state’s total population and 52.7% of its adult population have been at least partially vaccinated.

As part of its ongoing efforts to increase vaccination rates, the NCDHHS recently began offering $25 summer cash cards at select vaccine sites in Mecklenburg, Guilford, Rowan and Rockingham counties. Anyone 18 or older who gets their first vaccine dose at those sites will receive a card, and drivers will receive a card every time they transport someone to their vaccination appointment.
