Washington’s Fourth of July celebration will occur without the familiar boom of fireworks this year, according to a post made by the city’s official Facebook page.
With the holiday being a little over a month away, similar events in our area have been announced. Details regarding the Washington event have not been made public at this time. The information about the fireworks show came from a comment made by the city’s official Facebook page in response to an inquiry posted in the Washington NC – What’s Happening group.
“We are having issues getting fireworks from the supplier. We are hoping to do a laser show or something along those lines on July 4,” the city said in a comment on Facebook. “All 4th of July details will be shared through the City of Washington’s Facebook page once they are set.”
Planning for Washington’s celebration is ongoing according to Parks and Recreation director Kristi Robertson.
Similar celebratory events like Belhaven’s 79th annual Fourth of July celebration will occur on July 2 and 3 since July 4 falls on a Sunday. The firework show will be the penultimate event at Belhaven’s celebration, with a street dance taking place on July 2 and the annual parade occurring on the morning of July 3.
Planning for the city of Washington’s Fourth of July celebration is currently underway. For up to date information about this and future events, visit the city’s website or Facebook page.
