Hundley Stallings days as a Southside Seahawk athlete are over after four years on the football, basketball and baseball teams. He played quarterback, center, first base and pitched for the Seahawks. Stallings is headed to Marshall, Mo. in August to play football at Missouri Valley College.

 

1. What are your thoughts on the end of your high school sports career?

 

Hundley: I enjoyed every minute of it and I’m sad that it’s over, but I’m also happy to be finished with high school and am looking forward to new experiences in college. Like everyone says, the last four years have gone by fast and I have plenty of great memories.

 

2. What are your three personal highlights from your time at Southside?

 

Hundley: I scored the game winning touchdown against Perquimans my junior year. It was a five yard run with five seconds left. I also remember hitting a three-pointer to tie the score in triple overtime at Croatan my sophomore year. My top baseball highlight was this year against Riverside when we won, 4-1, and I pitched a complete game.

 

3. Think back to the beginning of your freshman year. Did your high school athletic experience turn out to be what you thought it would be then?

 

Hundley: It actually exceeded my expectations. I had so much fun being around great teammates and coaches. They all helped me get better and I’m grateful and blessed to be a Seahawk.

 

4. What superpower would you choose?

 

Hundley: The ability to make time stop, so I could have time to take it all in and be able to enjoy great moments longer.

 

5. What are you looking forward to most about going to college?

 

Hundley: It will be fun to get to know my new teammates and coaches and be in a totally different environment. I’m grateful to be able to keep playing and I’m looking forward to the challenge. My coaches will push me to improve and I think my time at Southside prepared me well for the future.
