Richard Lee Mann, Jr., 87, of Fairfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Richard was born in Beaufort County on May 5, 1934, to the late Richard Lee and Murray Swindell Mann, Sr.  He was married to Betty Simmons Mann for sixty-two and a half years.

Richard proudly served as a lieutenant in the United States Army.  He was a graduate of NC State University.  He spent the rest of his working years as a farmer.  He loved the land and loved his family, doing anything he could to help his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the family plot in the Fairfield Cemetery, with Randy Clayton officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Richard Lee Mann III of Fairfield, and Thomas W. Mann and wife Sue of Fairfield; a daughter, Darlene M. Parent and husband Kent of Penrose, NC; a sister, Betty Carawan of Fairfield; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Mann. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairfield Cemetery Circle at 2056 Newlands Road, Fairfield, NC 27826, or the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department at PO Box 133, Fairfield, NC  27826.
