From Hyde County Schools 

Hyde County School’s Mrs. Charlotte Ludolph, middle grades Science teacher at the

Mattamuskeet Early College, will get to have a once in a lifetime experience this summer that will benefit her professionally for the rest of her career. 

She was selected to receive a Simple Gift Funds Award sponsored by The Simple Gifts Funds. This award covers the program fee to participate in Global Teachers – Victoria Falls Region 2021. 

Go Global NC’s Global Teachers program, founded in 1995, provides professional development to K-12 teachers from across North Carolina through an in-depth learning experience about the history, culture and the environment of other countries. Programs begin in the spring with an intense orientation workshop, followed by a 10 to 14 day international immersive study-abroad experience in the summer. In the fall, Go Global NC leads an action-planning workshop, which creates a platform for collaboration and creativity to ensure teachers are prepared to share their global experiences in their own North Carolina classrooms. Teachers from all grade levels and all subject areas use their new global experiences to ignite an interest in global engagement and cooperation among their students and in their communities. 

As a Science teacher, Mrs. Ludolph is very excited about the opportunity to participate in Ecotours so she can teach her students about the native plants and animals of that region.

She hasn’t stopped smiling since she heard, nor should she. I know that the students in her classroom will benefit from the knowledge she gains during this experience for years to come,” said Steve Basnight, Superintendent of Hyde County Schools. 

Go Global NC’s Global Teachers are among North Carolina’s best educators, and only 25 are selected to join in this experience. Hyde County Schools are very proud and excited Mrs. Ludolph will get to join this year’s cadre of teachers, which is just another testament to our outstanding Hyde County Schools’ educator-family. HCS cannot wait to hear all about her experiences on the continent of Africa and are looking forward to having her share that knowledge and teaching with our students and staff.
