Recently published, “The Adventures of Billy Wonder: Teenage Hero” by Pitt County native Jimmy Daniels features the city of Washington as a backdrop to the tales of the titular character. 

“The Adventures of Billy Wonder: Teenage Hero” is a work of young adult fiction that focuses on Billy, a teenager living along the waters of the Pamlico River in Washington. After mistakenly taking a secret serum created by the U.S. government, Billy gains fantastical powers and travels the unexplored corners of the universe on his journey to become a guardian of Earth.

“I always walk down along the water in Washington and there’s a really beautiful sunset so I knew this would be a good setting for the story,” Daniels said. “The cover is supposed to be the Pamlico River.” 

Written and published under the pseudonym James Fallrainer, the novel is 124 pages long and is Daniels’ debut novel. He independently published the work through South Carolina publishing company Palmetto Publishing. 

Prior to writing this novel, Daniels served in the United States military for 20 years and was a police officer in Greenville for just over 10 years. He currently works for Flanders’ Filters and is writing in his free time. 

“I work at night so I listen to a lot of stuff dealing with astral projection and different galaxies. They think the universe is basically infinite so the novel really just went from there,” Daniels said. “I like telling stories and I’m interested in the subject so I just started to see where it went.”
