Nancy Ann Singleton Douglas, age 77, of Slatestone Road passed away Thursday September 2, 2021 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday September 5, 2021 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Ray West. Pallbearers include Tommy Douglas, Keith Douglas, Timmy Douglas, David Singleton, Shane Whitley, and Stephen Whitley.

Mrs. Douglas was born in Beaufort County on September 10, 1943 to the late Frank and Ruby Singleton. She graduated from Washington High School in 1961. Mrs. Douglas later graduated from Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964 as an RN. Over the course of her career, she worked as a school nurse, with the American Red Cross and in several roles at Beaufort County Hospital. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ as long as her health allowed. Mrs. Douglas taught Sunday school at First Church of Christ and at Ridgewood Nursing Home.

Survivors include her husband Aaron Wade Douglas, her daughter Amy Douglas Alligood and husband Kevin of Washington, her GRANDchildren Emily Lawson Alligood and Crawford McCoy Douglas. She is also survived by two sisters in law, Marie Singleton of Kinston and Zelma Singleton of Washington, three nieces and one nephew. She also leaves behind her high school girlfriends Hilda Lane, Peggy Nelson, Peggy Whitford, and Anna Kay Whitley.

She is preceded in death by her son, Brian Wade Douglas and two brothers, Marvin E. Singleton and William D. “Billy” Singleton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Saturday September 4, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

The family wishes to express an appreciation to Sandra Woolard who was her friend, her companion, and loving caregiver for over 20 years, along with the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to First Church of Christ 520 E 10th Street, Washington, NC 27889 or to a charity of your choice.
