The Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center in Washington celebrated National Senior Center Month on Monday.

Gov. Roy Cooper proclaimed September as Senior Center Month in North Carolina.

“There are 169 Senior Centers all across our state that proved a wide array of services, programs, and activities for seniors,” a release from the Senior Center reads. “We are proud to provide a place for the seniors in our community, a place to come and enjoy the activities and programs we have to offer.”

The Grace Martin Harwell Senior Center is located at 310 W. Main Street in Washington, and is part of the City of Washington Parks and Recreation department. The center provides community members age 55 and older with programs and activities designed to enhance the quality of life and promote independent living.
