Two members of a local theater group will perform Saturday during the Christmas in July celebration in downtown Washington.

Crystal Holman and Jonathan Clayborne of the Deplorable Folly Players will serve up spoofs of some classic Christmas tales from 9 a.m. until noon in front of I Can’t Believe It’s a Book Store on Main Street.

Among the comedy bits scheduled for performance are “Who Sells Hair?” and “‘A Christmas Carol’ in Five Words.” The two-person show is free to the public.

Christmas in July is organized by downtown-Washington merchants and promoted by the nonprofit Washington Harbor District Alliance. The festivities began Monday with sales by participating merchants and will continue through the weekend.

The Deplorable Folly Players is an informal, self-supporting organization devoted to comedy and street theater.
