The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday morning the arrest in Georgia of Ralph Allen Miles III, 32, who was wanted for several felonies and is now awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
The Sheriff’s Office said Monday that Miles and Billie Mizelle Hamilton, 49, also known as Billie Jo Mizelle, were wanted for a combined 14 felony counts of identity theft, forgery of an instrument, uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretense. Investigators obtained warrants on Miles and Mizelle after a victim reported that the two suspects — along with a third suspect, Lance Lloyd Montague Jr., 38, of Wanchese, who has been arrested by the Kill Devil Hills Police Department — passed him stolen fraudulent checks totaling more than $5,900.
The Sheriff’s Office said Mizelle’s whereabouts are still unknown. Anyone with information about Mizelle’s location is asked to call the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at 252-946-7111.
