Jimmy Davis and his wife Leisa have spent the last 12 years making sure the local chapter of the Cal Ripken League runs effectively. This past Saturday Jimmy, the Washington Cal Ripken League president, and his wife, who does administrative work for the League, were recognized in a ceremony during the Cal Ripken League 11U and 12U state tournament held at the Sussiegray McConnell Sports Complex.
Cal Ripken League state commissioner Mike Cole and District 6 commissioner Jimmy Sanders presented Jimmy and Leisa, who served as the tournament director, a plaque recognizing their contributions to the Cal Ripken League.
“It felt rewarding to get it from those two guys,” Davis said. “When you run a program like this and you spend 60 to 80 hours a week during baseball season on the field making sure things run smoothly, you make a lot of sacrifices along the way. It just meant a lot to have those two guys come down and present that plaque to me and her.”
Jimmy said that Leisa’s dedication to the Cal Ripken League has been instrumental.
“Over the past 12 years of me being the president she has been the backbone of all the administrative work that has to take place,” Jimmy said.
