Adolph Sadler III, 51, of Chocowinity was struck and killed in a hit and run on Friday, May 27 at around 9 p.m. near the intersection of North Memorial Drive and Airport Road in Greenville, according to the Greenville Police Department. Sadler was also known as Gus. 

Per a social media post published by the police department, Sadler was lying in the roadway when officers discovered his body. He succumbed to his injuries “a short time later.” 

“A preliminary investigation shows Sadler was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Memorial Drive, while traveling eastbound, when he was struck by two vehicles.  Only one of the vehicles remained on scene,” the police department wrote. The other driver turned himself into law enforcement. 

Greenville Police Department Public Information Officer, Kristen Hunter, said it is believed that Sadler died at the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. No charges have been announced.
