Emergency Services director critically injured in traffic accident

Carnie Hedgepeth, director of Beaufort County Emergency Services (BCES), is in critical condition at ECU Health Medical Center following a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened at around 5:25 p.m. on Mozingo Road in Greenville. A motorcycle and vehicle were involved, according to local media outlets.
According to BCES, Hedgepeth’s injuries include; various facial lacerations, fractured nose and orbital bones and a brain bleed that is being monitored through CT scans by medical staff. They said he “continues to remain stable.” He is able to move his arms and legs on command. At this time, no surgeries or operations have been performed.
“We are thankful for God’s provisions and extremely grateful for the outpour of concern and support. We ask that everyone continues to pray for movement in his limbs and a quick recovery,” the Hedgepeth family stated in a social media post published by BCES.
