The Washington Youth Baseball League hosts the Tar Heel League District tournament at the Susie Gray McConnell Spirts Complex through July 17th.
Teams from Bath, Belhaven, Bear Grass, Chocowinity, South Edgecombe, Greene County, Jamesville, South Edgecombe, Southern Pitt and Williamston join Washington in 8, 10, 12 and 15U divisions in District 6. Ahoskie, Camden, Cashie, Dare, Edenton, Pocosin and Perquimans complete in the 15U District 7 tournament.
“It’s going to be a busy 10 days or so of very competitive baseball,” WYBL president Will Tyson said. “It’s a fun time of year for the kids after the regular season is over and we’re hoping to advance at least one Washington team to the state tournament again this year.”
All divisions are double-elimination and the winner advances to the state tournament in Boone at the end of this month.
The District 7 tournament started Tuesday with the championship game set for Sunday at noon.
Beaufort County teams start Sunday afternoon with competition lasting through July 17.
