The Beaufort County Health Department released new data on the number of current cases of COVID-19. The new data was published on Friday, July 15. 

 

The average case rate for the last seven days is 21.4. According to the local health department, this labeled the county as having a high level of community spread. 

 

There are four COVID-19 related hospitalizations and 132 known active cases in the county. As of Friday there have been 13,887 total cases since 2020. 

 

The number of cases have steadily increased since the first week of May, the Beaufort County Health Department’s report shows. 

 

Out of a population of 47,079, over half of residents have received both COVID-19 vaccines. Also, 14,520 residents have received an additional vaccine dose or booster. 

 

The Beaufort County Health Department currently offers J&J, Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. Pfizer vaccines are available for children ages six months and up. Moderna and J&J vaccines are available for those 18 years and older. J&J booster shots can be given two months after a person has received the last COVID shot. Moderna or Pfizer booster shots can be given five months after a person last received their last COVID shot. Second booster (Pfizer or Moderna) shots can be given four months after a person last received their first booster COVID shot. COVID-19 vaccinations require an appointment. In North Carolina, there have been 25,051 total cases of COVID and 24 related deaths for the week ending on July 9. There were 3,438 total weekly cases of reinfections for the week ending on July 9. Since 2020, there have been 2,919,068 total cases of COVID in North Carolina and 25,395 deaths.
