St. Peter’s celebrates 200 years

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington kicked off its 200th anniversary celebration Sunday afternoon with a birthday party in the social hall. Local musician Chuck Phillips provided entertainment for over 100 parishioners and guests.
The public is invited to the churchyard and church history tour Saturday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. led by church historian Riley Roberson. The tour features actors in period costumes representing those who are buried in St. Peter’s churchyard. A drum and fife parade by musicians from Tryon Palace will happen at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
