Mr. James Brickell “Jay” Edwards, age 52, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday, October 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and many dogs.

Services will be held at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, NC on Saturday, October 15, 2022. The family visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of his Life at 3:00 PM.

Jay was born to Judith Hurdle Edwards and the late James Roger Edwards on July 2, 1970, in Beaufort County, NC. Jay gradated with an associate degree in Marine Technology from Cape Fear Community College and a bachelor’s degree of Science in Marine Biology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His desire to be a steward to the environment in the place he called home led him to a career as an Environmental Specialist II for the land resources division of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.

Jay was an amateur radio operator (W4JBE) and avid music lover. He enjoyed nothing more than the company of his friends and family including his furry ones. He was a kind and generous soul to both friends and strangers putting most before himself.

He is remembered lovingly by his wife Anna, his mama Judy of Bath, sister Marci Edwards, her husband Larry Vrooman, and their son Jameson Edwards of Winterville, NC, and his half-sister Mandi Edwards of Baltimore, OH, and many dear friends.
