A juvenile was shot in the shoulder this afternoon, according to Washington Police Department. Officers at this time do not know where the shooting took place, but do know some of those involved were located on Market Street. Officers are investigating the circumstances around the shooting.

*Update from Washington Police Department:

“On Wednesday, March 15^th, 2023 at 4:21pm, The Washington Police Department responded to the area of N. Market St. and W 9th for a report of a shooting.  Officers located a 14 year old Juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.  The juvenile was transported to ECU Health Beaufort Hospital for treatment.

Detectives are still following up on leads, and interviewing witnesses in the area.  If anyone has information on this case, they are encouraged to call the Washington Police Department at 252-946-1444 or the Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400.”
