Northside senior pitcher/infielder Eli Huynh is the 2023 Bryan Keith Woolard scholarship winner.

Huynh helped the Panthers to a second straight Coastal Plains Conference championship with a 12-0 record and the sixth seed in the 1A East state playoffs.

Bryan Keith Woolard was the catcher on the Panthers 1994 state championship team and went on to play at Lenoir Community College. He was named Most Valuable Player and Best Defensive Player during his career at Northside.

He died in an automobile accident in January of 2009 and his family established the scholarship that spring.

“Our family is proud to present this $500 scholarship for the 15^th time,” Keith Woolard said. “Bryan loved baseball and we’re glad to keep his memory alive and help a deserving player go to college.”
