Pirates sweep County Brawl

The Bath Elementary School Pirates won the baseball and softball championships in the 13thannual Beaufort County Brawl held at Northeast Elementary School last week. Chocowinity Middle, Northeast Elementary, Pungo Christian Academy also competed in this two-day tournament.
The Pirates baseball team outscored their opponents 34 to 2 during the tournament. They were led by their leader and catcher, Marshal Chase, who kept the boys focused throughout the season. They had great pitching performances from Luke Mirabella and Jayden Bass. Blake Wainwright (4 for 4), Luke Mirabella (4 for 4), and Jayden Bass (3 for 4) led the offense during the championship game.
The Bath Lady Pirates defeated Chocowinity Middle School, 18-1, to claim the softball tournament championship. Gracie Smith pitched an outstanding three-inning game and never lost focus on the circle. She pitched to 11 batters, only allowing three base runners and one run. Sophie Berry, Peyton Cooper, Kaycee Craig, and Kinsey White all went 3 for 3, scoring each time. White and Berry each hit an inside-the-park home run. Carley Cooper and Rylie Norman coached the Lady Pirates.
