Washington Police Department charged Jevon Hagins, 23, of Greenville with ten counts of attempted murder as of Monday, May 29, according to a press release from the department.
The charges are in connection to a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, May 23 in the area of John Small Avenue and E. Fifth Street. Almost immediately after receiving a report of gunshots in that area, Washington Police received a second report that there was a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg in the Festival Park area. The victim was transported to ECU Health Beaufort for treatment.
A disagreement between two groups during a basketball game led to the shooting incident, according to the police department. On Wednesday, March 24, the police department announced they arrested Xavier Marsh, 23, of Fayetteville on charges of possession with intent to sell or distribute a controlled substance within 1000 ft of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a stolen firearm.
