Though it’s on a different weekend, the Aurora Fossil Festival plans to have the same fun that takes place every Memorial Day weekend. 

This year’s festival was rescheduled for June 24 and 25, because of inclement weather in May. 

A “Jurassic Classic Bike Ride ” with Flyth’s Bike Shop will kick off the weekend followed by a parade down Main Street in Aurora. Festival attendees can dig for fossils, watch “Ed’s Dinosaurs Alive!” Show, view science and history displays, have fun at the Kid’s Zone, and browse local crafts and food vendors. The Bonafides and the Ginger Thompson Band will perform live on Saturday. The day will conclude with a Glow party.

The fun continues on Sunday with the Kid’s Zone, a Slime Party, STEM activities and local vendors. The I-42 Band will perform live from the Main Street stage. 

The fossil pits will be on Saturday from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., but on Sunday they will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On both days, a Silent Auction will be held featuring rare fossils, minerals, jewelry, vacation packages. Limited edition Fossil Festival T-shirts will be sold. Proceeds from the Silent Auction and t-shirt sales will benefit the Aurora Fossil Museum. 

The festival remains free for the public to attend.
