Retired Hall of Fame football coach, Harold Robinson, is releasing his first book on July 19. The book is called “The Best of Times with The Best of Friends in The Best of Places.” It is a compilation of stories about Robinson growing up in Washington, NC.

He will be doing a book signing on release day at The Bank Bistro at 5 p.m. He will have two more signings on July 21 at Roberson’s Cleaners and The Turnage Theater. The Roberson’s Cleaner’s signing will be from 9 a.m. to noon, while The Turnage Theater signing will be from 5-7 p.m.

The stories he shares in the book describe what it is like growing up in a small town. Some of the stories in the book include his neighborhood of Wanoca, watching football games at Kugler Field, and playing games with his friends like Marbles or Kick the Can.

Robinson wanted the book to be about his time growing up and not as much about his coaching career. Some of the stories in the book can be found online at The Washington Daily News where he has a weekly column.

His columns are what sparked the idea for the book. He started writing them in 2016 and fell in love with it.

“I have greatly enjoyed writing the columns,” Robinson said. “Between all the football fields, locker rooms, and coaching I never would’ve guessed that I would find a passion for writing.”

His columns received lots of support from his viewers and that love from the community inspired him to write a book. “We received lots of notes in the mail with tons of support about the columns,” his wife Tracey Robinson said. “They started to take a life of their own. There were multiple suggestions saying Harold should a book, and we thought why not and went for it.”

They have printed 150 copies of the book and they are hoping to print more. “We expect a big night at The Bank. We have heard from a lot of people and it should be a crazy night with Harold signing autograph copies. We expect a huge turnout,” Tracey Robinson said.

Harold is very grateful for this opportunity. “I am very thankful for The Washington Daily News for supporting my love for writing. I am excited to share my stories with the rest of the community,” Robinson said.
