On Monday, July 24, 2023 officers with the Washington Police Department responded to the area of W. 9^th / N. Market Street in reference to a report of shots fired in the area.  Upon arrival officers encountered subject running from the area.  The subject was detained and questioned by officers.  The subject indicated he may have been the intended victim but refused to give any further information.  The subject denied knowing the identity of the offenders nor did the subject offer a description.  At this time no one has come forward as a victim and the subject described above has been uncooperative.  Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Washington Police Department at 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400.
