Despite not having the numbers against Ayden Country Club, the Washington Whitecaps almost pulled out a win.
Miller Tyson and Cole Blanks were unstoppable. They both won everything they swam, adding eight combined first places for the Whitecaps. Tyson competed with the other 13-14 boys and won the 100-meter individual medley, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter freestyle, and was a part of the winning relay in the 14 and under freestyle relay.
In the 9-10 boys, Blanks won the 100-meter individual medley, 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter butterfly, and the 10-and-under freestyle relay. His brother, Lucus, also competed and won the 25-meter backstroke for 7-8 boys. He also got two seconds in the 25-meter freestyle and 8-and-under freestyle relay.
Brandon Ward had a pair of firsts. He won the 9-10 boys 50-meter backstroke and was a part of the winning relay team for 10 and under. Wren Tyson and Brayden Capehart were also on the winning relay.
Wallace Atkins won the 6 and under girls 25 meter backstroke and finished second in the 25-meter freestyle. She swam up with the 8 and under girls and got second in the 25-meter butterfly and second in the freestyle relay.
Eliza Lee was on the 14 and under winning relay team. She also finished second in the 11-12 girls 50-meter breaststroke and third in both the 100-individual medley and 50-meter freestyle.
