Season three of the CBS series “Secret Celebrity Renovation, kicks off this Friday, August 11, featuring some local ties here in eastern North Carolina. Episode one will feature the childhood home of Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian JB Smoove in neighboring Plymouth, North Carolina. Smoove returned with the hope of restoring the home which had once belonged to his grandmother, and had become “the” spot for family gatherings over the years. However, it was soon discovered that the home had deteriorated beyond repair and was unsalvageable.
The design team immediately jumped into action and came up with a Plan B. And for the first time in the history of the show, they opted for a complete demolition and rebuild.
The father and son duo of Jimmie and Jason Whichard, of Riverside Builders and Eco Modern Homes out of Chocowinity, were called to the rescue.
“We were originally approached about doing the project during season two of the series.” said son Jason. “But due to lingering supply chain issues from COVID it was going to be impossible to pull the project off in the allotted time. Fortunately were able to get the ball rolling again last year, and here we are.”
The complete background behind the build will be featured in this Saturday’s edition of the Washington Daily News.
“Secret Celebrity Renovation” will air this Friday, August 11th, at 8:00 PM on WNCT9 and will also be streamed live on Paramount+.
