A week after running for a season-high 216 yards, Northside senior Jamie Corprew posted an even 200 on 20 carries in the Panthers 31-0 rout of winless East Carteret on Homecoming at Bing Mitchell Field.

Corprew found the endzone three times on the night and helped the Panthers (4-2, 1-0) average over 11 yards every time they ran the ball for 370 rushing yards.

Other notable Panthers performances included junior Max Vansant with 109 yards on eight carries with a touchdown and Malachi Moore with a 27-yard scoring run.

Griffin Johnson and Gus Vansant led the defense with nine tackles each. Johnson’s total included five tackles for loss. He has been nominated for Eastern North Carolina defensive player of the week honors by SBlive.com. The winner is chosen through an online voting process that’s open to the public.

Dashawn Smith had seven tackles that included 2.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. Moore added seven tackles.  Zanek McCloud intercepted a pass and Gus Vansant recovered a fumble.

SOUTHSIDE: The Seahawks earned their first victory this fall and retained the Fossil Bowl trophy for the third straight year with a 54-20 win over Pamlico County (0-6). Senior Tequon (Tater) Moore returned from a bruised shoulder that kept him out last week to lead three Southside running backs with over 100 yards rushing with 111 yards on just six carries. He scored three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter and later caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Luke Bullock as the Seahawks (1-5) led 46-14 at halftime. Fullback Brian Salinas also ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns, while Myquan Clark had 110 yards and scored once.

“It was good to have Tater and Brian back fully healthy and they obviously helped our running back,” coach Jeff Carrow said. “We were fired up and ready to go and I’m pleased with the balance we had on offense. Having three guys over 100 yards with almost the same numbers is a great showing. It was a border war game and we wanted to keep the Fossil Bowl here at Southside.”

Josh Lewis and Alex Crisp led the defense with 4.5 tackles, Lewis and Moore added sacks, while Jacori Blount and Daylan Hardy intercepted passes.

WASHINGTON: The Pam Pack slowed the high-scoring Farmville Central offense, but still lost, 38-8 on Homecoming at Wagner Stadium. The Jaguars (6-1) averaged 58 points a game coming in and led 25-8 at halftime. Fullback Keonrick Melton led the Pack (2-4) with 71 yards rushing and scored the only touchdown. Jerai Davenport gained 60 yards and caught three passes for 40 more. Senior Gary Payne led the defense with 11 tackles, two for a loss and a sack. Traequon Haywood had seven tackles including four for a loss and sack, while Marek Bates added five tackles, three for a loss and a sack. Reggie Matthews intercepted a pass.

PUNGO CHRISTIAN ACADEMY: Running back Quay Artis led the Raiders (3-2) with 93 yards rushing and scored their only touchdown in a 51-6 home loss to Lawrence Academy in an 8-man contest. Austin Gibbs had 51 yards rushing and Wells Eagles added 42.
