Mr. James Harold Hodges, age 94, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday October 17, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday October 20, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Washington and was officiated by Pastor Greg Barmer. The burial followed at Oakdale Cemetery.  Bob Tyndall, Jack Cherry, Roger Brinn, Sammy Hodges, Jonathan Hodges, Patrick Hodges, Jeff Fecho, and Matt Fecho served as pallbearers.  The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

Mr. Hodges was born in Beaufort County on September 29, 1929, son of the late George H. Hodges and the late Lucy Cornelia Hardison.  He was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School and retired as a window clerk with the U.S. Postal Service and handled all of Donnelley marketing.  On February 26, 1956, he married the former Joyce Ann Williamson who survives.  After retiring from the postal service, he started his own business, My Tool Company, just to have something to do.  His hobbies were camping and square dancing.  He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Surviving along with his wife, Joyce of the home are his daughters: Cecelia Hodges Fecho and her husband Jeff of Corolla, and Lucinda Gayle Hodges of Raleigh; a brother: Milton Eugene Hodges of Washington; a sister Doris Hodges Byrd of Greenville; grandchildren: Jonathan Wade Hodges and his wife Joann, Patrick James Hodges and his wife Emily, Colin Andrew Fecho and his fiancée Elizabeth Kern, Kelsey Alexandra Fecho and her husband Kevin King, and Matthew Allen Fecho; five great grandchildren, and a great grandchild on the way.  Mr. Hodges was predeceased, along with his parents, by a son: James Wayland Hodges, three brothers, and three sisters.
