Melba Joyce Jones Boyd, age 81, passed away Friday October 27, 2023, at her home in Blount’s Creek.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday October 29, 2023, at Wesley Cemetery in Chocowinity and will be officiated by Travis Boyd.

Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on November 14, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Tuten Jones and Sarah Olivia Jones. Mrs. Boyd was a 1959 graduate of Aurora High School.  In 1960 she married James Carnell Boyd who preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Boyd enjoyed sewing and quilting. She frequented quilt shows with her friends and loved taking mountain vacations.

Survivors include her children, James Todd Boyd and wife Margie Kelder Boyd of Chocowinity, Cynthia Boyd Seybuck and husband Michael of Matthews, NC, Vincent J. Boyd and wife Runa Badal of Sarasota FL; sisters, Gladys Mills and Mertie Buck; grandchildren, Kristen Boyd, Eric Boyd, Justin Seybuck and Jordan Alexis Seybuck; and a great grandchild, Braxton Boyd.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Boyd is preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Rowe and Kay Manning, and a brother, Daniel J. Jones.
