A town is made up of its people and not the buildings or what it has to offer. You will find some of the nicest people you will find anywhere right here in Washington, NC.  Since I have been parking on Stewart Parkway and now, walking the Parkway, I have met some of the nicest people in the world and folks always throws their hands up and say hello.

Moving back home going on 15 years now, I have found out that I do not recognize everybody like I used too.  I use to know everybody or I thought I did! People have moved into Cypress Landing, Pamlico Plantation and the new Moss Landing and they are some our best people and have a habit of getting things done. The river is an attraction; I dare you to find a better scene than the sun setting or the sun rising over the Pamlico!

People are friendly from Shep’s Grill to the Parkway.   People are moving home because they miss the Pamlico.  It was our playground growing up and they miss it.  They have hunted, fished, sailed, swam, skied and made plans for the evening at different piers. Our parents always knew where we were; in the river. Now we have to encourage our kids and grandchildren to move to Washington.  Some parents are lucky that they do not have to drive five hours to visit their grandchildren.

My own children were raised in Williamston, and now live in Durham and Berlin, Md and never witnessed such hospitality. Oh, they grew up in a small town that taught them small town values and that was good, but they did not have the Pamlico.  The people up there have been good to my kids and now my grandchildren.  The people in Williamston were good to my kids and it is home to them now.  They graduated from Williamston High School, which is now Riverside.
