NCWRC: Speed a factor in Bath fatal boat crash

Speed is a confirmed contributing factor to a fatal boating accident that took place on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Bath, according to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC). Additional factors that could have led to the cash are still under investigation.
In a press release sent out on Wednesday, NCWRC stated 59-year-old Charles Bailey and his wife 58-year-old Suzanne Bailey traveled from their home in Bath to meet family members for dinner in Washington on Saturday, Nov. 4. The couple traveled in their 2022 34-ft. Fountain powerboat.
The crash took place at 10:18 p.m., according to NCWRC. Beaufort County’s Water Response Team responded to a call for an overdue boater at approximately 2:23 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. Emergency personnel located the boat in a wooded shoreline near Dinah’s Landing. The Baileys were found deceased at the scene.
