Mayor recognizes citizens who received Presidential Achievement Awards

On Tuesday, November 14, Mayor Donald Sadler recognized several Washington residents who recently received the Presidential Achievement Awards. Bishop Samuel Jones and his wife Mother Regina Jones, founders of the Purpose of God Annex, received the 2023 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. The Purpose of God Annex serves and helps disadvantaged or at-risk adults, youth, and their families of all colors through its many programs. Dr. Nancy Burroughs, founder and executive director of Nancy Burroughs Ministries, Inc., received the 2023 Presidential Achievement Award. The ministry serves as an umbrella for many ministries with the goal of training and certifying community chaplains. Flora Brooks, founder of Reaching for the Stars After School, received the 2022 Presidential Volunteer Services Silver Award and The Keeper of the Dream Community Partner Award. Reaching for the Stars serves underprivileged, at-risk youth, in Washington. The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards are presented to those who have contributed more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime. The Presidential Volunteer Service Silver Award is presented to those who have completed up to 499 hours of service.
