CHOCOWINITY – All lanes of U.S. 17 Business in Beaufort County are open to travelers ahead of the holidays, but final touches need to be completed in the new year.

On Wednesday, the contractor removed equipment from the site to allow drivers to have full access. The crews are waiting on materials before completing the project.

In January, the N.C. Department of Transportation contractor plans to return to the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railway and complete the bridge joints and pavement markings. At that time, drivers should anticipate lane closures and traffic shifts.

NCDOT will provide updates to the public as they become available.
