Debra Kaye Fisher, age 65, a resident of Washington, NC died December 8, 2023, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday December 13, 2023, at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Rev. Kevin Whaley.

Debra was born on August 16, 1958, to the late Lattie Fisher and Myrtle Rae Ladd. She graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1976. Following her graduation, she became a certified EMT in 1982 while continuing her education to become a licensed insurance agent for the state of North Carolina. She later completed her education to become an insurance agent in 1985 at Beaufort Community College.

Her occupation in the insurance field started in high school although her first official job was from 1982-1986, working for Payne-Watkins Insurance Agency in Washington. Debra then went to work for Singer Furniture (1987-1993) as an accountant/inventory control clerk working for the corporate office. Lastly, she worked for AAA Cooper Transportation from (1999-2010) as a senior logistics/dispatching member of the company but she was forced into early retirement due to several complications from back surgery in 2010.

In 1997 Debra unexpectedly lost her fiancé/high school sweetheart, James Leroy Jackson, Jr. (Jimbo).

She is survived by her only son, employed by the US Army SGT James Leroy Jackson, III (Lee) and his devoted wife Tiffany Woolard Jackson; her two sisters, Linda F. Banks, LaVerne F. Dixon and her husband Edward Earl; nieces and nephews, Denese Mitchell, Anessia Hammonds, Amy Goff, Dana Sauls, and Ed Dixon, Jr. Her significant other’s relatives include his late parents, James Leroy Jackson and Ella Phrocene Jackson; his siblings, Billy Joe Jackson, Michael Lee Jackson, Pamela Jackson Mann and nieces and nephews, Stetson Mann, Leann Beddard, Billy Joe Jackson, Jr, Amanda Jackson, and Caroline Jackson.

Debra was an enthusiastic gardener, a beloved sister, aunt, and her ultimate joy in her life was her son.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday December 12, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
