Mrs. Sybil Louise Keech, age 91, a resident of the Free Union Community of Pinetown, NC died Tuesday December 26, 2023, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center in Washington.

A graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday January 2, 2024 at the Keech Family Cemetery at the home and will be officiated by Pastor Harold Swinson. Pallbearers will be Justice Smith, Tyler Herrington, Brian Sabin, Tom Herrington, Van Daw, and Joseph Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be William Daw, John Richards, and Kevin Richards.

Mrs. Sybil was born in Beaufort County on July 21, 1932, daughter of the late Raleigh Oliver Keech and the late Edith Beatrice Windley. She attended Pantego High School. On July 22, 1949, she married Vernon Roe Keech who preceded her in death on April 29, 2002. She and her husband owned and operated Keech’s Snack Bar. They served many people a fast and delicious meal of the best cheeseburger or hamburger steak in the area. You could count on seeing her smile as she said, “what can I get you”. Often, she knew what the customer would order before they even said a word. Mrs. Sybil was a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Connie K. Daw and her husband Van of Pantego and Theresia K. Sabin and her husband Mike of Virginia Beach, VA; brother: Melvin Raleigh Keech of Pantego; sister: Margaret Ann K. Patras of Virginia Beach; grandchildren: Anne Marie S. Herrington and her husband Tom, Vanessa D. Smith and her husband Joseph, Brian Sabin and his wife Meghan, and William B. Daw; and great grandchildren: Justice Smith, Emily Herrington, Melody Smith, Tyler Herrington, Dia Sabin, Brayden Sabin and Genevieve Sabin. Mrs. Sybil was predeceased, along with her parents and husband, by sisters: Doris Marie Keech Parker and Gail K. Paul.
