Washington, NC — There is nothing more beautiful than a life fully lived. Mrs. Magalene Hodges Arnold, 90, a resident of Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 13, 2023.

The family will have a private service with burial in Pinewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Skipper McLawhorn.

Mrs. Arnold was born in Beaufort County on March 14, 1933, to the late Louis Eddie Hodges and Maggie Hodges of Grimesland. She was a graduate of Grimesland High School. Mrs. Arnold was married to the love of her life, Ronnie Paul Arnold, who preceded her in death in 2005. For more than 37 years, Mrs. Arnold was employed with Belk’s in Washington where she worked in the Men’s Department.

Mrs. Arnold most enjoyed working outdoors in her yard and with her flowers, decorating her home, traveling and shopping. She spent years supporting her husband farming before his retirement, as well as cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was fortunate to know many of her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Arnold will most likely be remembered by most as the sales lady for the Men’s Department for many years. She was a longtime member of the Proctor Memorial Christian Church.

Mrs. Arnold will be greatly missed but she leaves behind wonderful memories that will live through the lives of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her brother, Elmore Hodges.
