Mr. Edwin Lee “Eddie” Barnes, Jr., age 63, a resident of Belhaven, NC entered his eternal home on Saturday January 20, 2024, at UNC Healthcare Nash in Rocky Mount.

A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday January 28, 2024, at Bethany Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Ron Estes. The service will be aired live on Ron Estes’ Facebook page or may be viewed later by visiting the same link.

Eddie was born in Norfolk, VA on September 9, 1960, son of the late Edwin Lee “Ed” Barnes, Sr. and Wanda Johnson Lowell who survives.  He attended school in Norfolk and operated his own commercial fishing company.

Eddie had a passionate heart for the Lord, and a radical way of sharing the Father’s love from spending hours cleaning, worshipping, and praying in the Bethany UMC when most people were home asleep, to chasing someone around gas pumps to give them a Big Hug for Jesus. His faith and love of the Lord was contagious along with his youth ministry and his big smile. Eddie traveled to 14 nations on Ministry trips and brought multitudes to give their lives to Jesus and build a passionate relationship with the Lord.  He currently worshipped at Breath of God International Outreach in Greenville.

Eddie’s love for his family was as visible as his love for the Lord. He loved the moments when he could spend time with them. He knew the value of family and spent hours praying for them and encouraging them. He tried hard to be the example of a son, father, grandfather, and friend by the way he lived and his relationship with the Lord.

Surviving along with his mother and stepfather: Wanda and Clifton Delmar Lowell both of Belhaven are his sons: Edwin Lee Barnes III and his wife Christine of Youngsville and Jeremiah Johnson Barnes of Greenville and their mother, Patty K.
