The Washington Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce (WBCCC) marked a milestone with its 120th Annual Membership Banquet held at the Washington Civic Center on Jan. 25th. The event, presented by Executive Personnel Group, brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and businesses from across the county.
Catherine Glover, the Executive Director for the WBCCC, commended the community’s commitment to the Chamber, highlighting the significant growth in membership observed in 2023. She underscored the importance of the Bright Futures program in Beaufort County and recognized the efforts of its coordinator, Robin McKeithan, in supporting children in need.
“Our future workforce is sitting in Beaufort County Schools right now, and if their basic needs are not being met, how do we expect them to learn and become productive citizens?” emphasized Glover.
Several awards were bestowed upon deserving recipients during the evening. Michele Oros received the Meritorious Award, Tiffany Moore was honored as the Community Leader of the Year, Warren Allen was recognized as the Young Professional of the Year, Trent and Brent Wynne were named Entrepreneurs of the Year, Petals and Produce received the Small Business of the Year award, and Executive Personnel Group was named Business of the Year.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to give back to you,” expressed Oros gratefully upon receiving her award.
Selden Taylor, outgoing President of the Chamber Board, received recognition for his dedicated service.
“He is consistent, focused, financially responsible, and has a brilliant business mind,” said Glover. “The organization was in good hands under his tenure.”
Heather VanStaalduinen, co-owner of Petals and Produce, captivated the audience with her moving remarks, earning a standing ovation. Urging attendees to refocus on meaningful relationships over social media validation, she emphasized, “We live in a community that is rich in compassion.”
VanStaalduinen’s sentiment echoed the essence of the well-attended event, showcasing the unity and compassion that defines the Beaufort County business community.
