Pam Pack, Seahawk swimmers qualify for regional

Washington and Southside will have several representatives at Saturday’s 1A/2A East regional swim meet at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
Sophomore Aubrey Woolard qualified first in the 50-freestyle with a season-best time of 26.15 and third in the 100-freestyle in 58.68. She’s also part of the 200 and 400-freestyle relay teams with Eva Hill, Kathryn Gautier and Lydia Smith. The foursome qualified eighth in the 200 and 10th in the 400.
Smith, a sophomore, qualified 16th in the 200 individual medley and 20th in the 100-backstroke. Gautier, a freshmen qualified 19th in the 100-breasstroke.
For the boys, the 400 free style relay team of Gabe Niederhauser, Wayland
Mitchell, Adam Mizelle and Keenan Curtis qualified 12th and Niederhauser is 17th in the 100-freestyle.
Southside senior Ty Cole is seventh in the 100-backstroke and 14th in the 100-feestyle.
The top six finishers in each event from the three state-wide regionals qualify for the state meet plus the next six fastest times in each event regardless of region.
