Sylvia Kathleen Snoke Evans, 90, of Greenville, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, February 18th surrounded by her loved ones. She was much loved and will be sorely missed. There will be a private family interment of ashes. Sylvia lived a life full of joy and happiness. She was born on March 26, 1933, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the youngest of three children born to Lydia Margaret Scholl and Paul Otterbein Snoke. She graduated from the Lancaster Country Day School and attended Vassar College for three years. While there she met and married Guy Carr Evans Jr. of Greenville, NC, a naval officer stationed in Charleston, SC. She completed her Bachelors of Arts at UNC Chapel Hill while her husband attended Law School. They had two adoring children and spent many years in southern California where they raised their family, eventually returning to Washington, NC, in their later years. Sylvia was devoted to art, music, gardening, friends, and family. She loved sailing and playing bridge. She was preceded in death by her husband and her two siblings, Nancy and Edwin. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Dixon Evans; her son Guy Carr Evans III; her grandchildren Shelley Pierce, James Evans, Paul Evans, and Mark Evans; and her 13 great-grandchildren.
