Billy was born October 19th, 1934, and was adopted by the late Dewey & Lizzie Hill of Wilmar. He was a 1954 graduate of Chocowinity High School. Billy joined the US Army and received an Honorable Discharge in order to care for his parents. On July 30th, 1955, he married the former Mary Etta Dixon who preceded him in death in 2018. Billy retired from DuPont in Kinston after 30+ years of service.

The most important decision he made was on March 25, 1960, when he accepted Christ as his Savior. He was an active member of Union Chapel FWB Church, serving as a Deacon, Senior Adult Sunday School Class Teacher until 2021 and Treasurer from 1967 until 1977.

Billy is survived by a daughter, Paula (Hill) Hodges and husband, Donald of Chocowinity. Two Grandsons – Ben Hodges and wife, Jennifer of New Bern; Tim Hodges and wife, Jessica of Kirksville, Missouri; Four Great-Granddaughters – Emma & Julianna of New Bern and Sophia & Olivia of Kirksville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Union Chapel FWB Church, PO Box 38, Chocowinity, NC. Billy was always searching for ways that he could help others and show kindness. The family would like to encourage everyone to do something kind for someone else to make their day better. It doesn’t have to be monetary. A smile and a friendly greeting don’t cost a thing but could be worth a great deal to someone who is hurting.
